Hot Stone Massage utilizes basalt river stones heated to a temperature of approximately 140 degrees.   The composition of the stones allow them to retain this heat for extended periods of time.  The stones are placed in strategic positions on and under the client's body, and are also used to massage the client.

This type of massage can be extremely relaxing as well as therapeutic.  The heat of the stones can penetrate deeply into sore muscles, bringing about lasting relief from muscle aches and pains.   It is also widely believed that the ancient energy of the stones can have a very healing effect on the body. A hot stones massage uses a considerable amount of oil to ensure that there is no friction between the stones being used for massage and the skin.
